Do you have one or more missing teeth? Are your missing teeth making it difficult to bite, speak, and chew?

Receive dental implants in Denton, TX at Leatherwood Family and Cosmetic Dentistry. Dr. Samantha Leatherwood helps patients restore missing teeth with dental implant treatment.

Whether you are missing a single tooth or all of your teeth, implants can help. Dental implants are a versatile solution that replaces missing teeth at the root. Implants support both the teeth and gums to restore the health and look of your smile.

THE BENEFITS OF DENTAL IMPLANTS

There are many options for replacing one or multiple teeth. Dental bridges can replace multiple missing teeth, while dentures can restore whole rows or arches of missing teeth. Tooth implants are different in that they can be used alone or to support bridges and dentures. Dental implants offer many advantages to patients.

Dental implants:

  • Have a high success rate
  • Prevent further bone loss
  • Help patients eat, drink, and speak
  • Do not come with dietary restrictions
  • Look and feel natural
  • Support the health of surrounding teeth

Please contact Leatherwood Family and Cosmetic Dentistry if you want to learn more about implant treatment. We will be happy to help find the right implant restoration that matches your specific needs.

DENTAL IMPLANT TREATMENT

Dr. Leatherwood will thoroughly examine your teeth, gums, and jaw to determine your candidacy for dental implants. The dental implant or implants are surgically inserted into the jawbone to begin treatment.  Dr. Leatherwood will also provide you with a temporary restoration as the implants heal.

During a process called osseointegration, the implants fuse to the jawbone. This process can take three to six months. Once the implants are fully healed, abutments and dental crowns are added to the implant posts. Those restorations are attached if patients receive an implant bridge or denture.

Once they fully heal, dental implants and implant restorations can be cared for just like natural teeth. We recommend that patients continue to maintain their oral health at home and schedule routine dental appointments in our office. We can ensure that your restoration is healthy and stable at routine dental visits.

DENTAL IMPLANTS FAQS

AM I A CANDIDATE FOR DENTAL IMPLANTS?

The best way to determine if you are a candidate for this tooth replacement option is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Leatherwood. Patients need to be in good health to ensure a successful restoration. However, bone grafting, periodontal therapy, and tooth extractions may be necessary before implant surgery. Addressing problems like insufficient jawbone or gum disease helps ensure the implants do not fail.

Dr. Leatherwood will take x-rays and images of the remaining teeth, gums, and jawbone to determine where to place the implants and how many will be used. She helps patients determine if they require several single implants or implant-secured restorations, including dentures or dental bridges.

HOW MUCH DO DENTAL IMPLANTS COST?

Dental implants are an investment in your overall quality of life and health. They will cost significantly more than dentures and dental bridges. However, they offer many more benefits. The average cost to replace a single tooth with an implant is about $3,000 to $4,500. The more teeth you are missing, the more implants you will need and the more it will cost. Full mouth implants will cost tens of thousands of dollars.

HOW MANY TEETH CAN DENTAL IMPLANTS REPLACE?

Dental implants can replace any number of missing teeth! Your dentist will replace one tooth with a dental implant-supported crown. If you have multiple missing teeth, Dr. Leatherwood will replace them with an implant-supported bridge. She will use denture implants if you are missing an entire arch of your teeth. Teeth implants are versatile and can help anyone with missing teeth restore their smile.

HOW DO DENTAL IMPLANTS PREVENT BONE LOSS?

A tooth root is responsible for providing stimulation for the jawbone to regenerate. If the root is gone (like when a tooth is missing), it can no longer help the bone regenerate and thrive. A dentist inserts an implant into the jaw bone to provide enough stimulation to prevent the bone from deteriorating.
